    What is instrument cable BS5308

Instrumentation cables manufactured in accordance with British Standard BS5308.Whilst this British Standard was superseded by the Harmonised Standard BS EN 50288-7in 2005 it is still widely referred to because the Harmonised Standard does not account for the higher voltage ratings and cable dimensions. A publicly available version of the Standard was published as PAS5308 in 2009.
British Standard BS5308 covers specifications for a range of instrumentation cableswhich we supply. These are available in a multitude of variants including Polyethylene (PE), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE), and Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) insulation materials, and armoured instrumentation cables.

6.35/11kV Medium voltage cable MV cable

Medium Voltage cables, or MV cables, is a category defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as having a voltage rating of above 1kV up to 100kV. There does, however, remain some ambiguity over where the medium voltage cable band begins and ends, depending on the countries, the standard setting bodies, and the type of system used as historically engineers only referred to low voltage and high voltage. The concept of medium voltage was only introduced as the level of voltages increased and the need arose for a greater classification range, which now often includes extra low and extra high voltage.

The difference between overhead lines and power cable lines

Overhead lines: They usually has no insulation, bare metal conductor, set up in the air to insulator string fixed on the tower, the air for the insulation. Key advantages: Low cost The disadvantage is the occupation of land resources (line corridor) more, affecting the city appearance.
Power cable: the use of insulating media will be insulated from the outside world, laying on the ground or underground. The main advantages, laying more convenient, less land occupied, does not affect the city city. The disadvantage is that the cost is too high. In terms of safety, the current line that, due to material and manufacturing processes and other reasons, overhead line safety is better than the power cable, the failure rate is far lower than the power cable. In addition, there is a “pipe insulated bus”, is between the conductor and metal shell filled with SF6 gas (or other) as an insulating medium.

General introduction of IEC 60840 high voltage cable

The International Electrotechnical Commission’s standard IEC 60840 references the requirements for cables and cable accessories with a voltage rating of between 30kV (Um 36kV) and 150kV (Um 170kV). The cables are of either single core or individually screened three-core cables but, as with the lower voltage standard IEC 60502, it excludes cables for special applications such as submarine and mining.
These high voltage cables are designed for fixed installations and suitable for the primary distribution of power. These cables have an outer sheath of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) which offers a balance between abrasion resistance and flexibility.
